Following recent investigative reports about sexual assault on college campuses by NPR and the Center for Public Integrity comes writer and CounterQuo founding member Jaclyn Friedman's thoughtful opinion piece in the Washington Post. She takes to task colleges and universities that are woefully ill-equipped to deal effectively with cases of sexual assault; even though they hold themselves up as the appropriate venue for providing justice for campus victims of rape.
Jaclyn's article calls us all to action: "It doesn't have to be this way. University campuses could easily become labs that innovate effective ways to precent and prosecute rape. But for that to happen, everyone... needs to stop treating rape like it's an embarrassing cold sore and start tackling it like the public health crisis it is." And we say, 'amen' and urge us all to take notice and take action.
